Hello and welcome to Grow Harvest Nourish! My name is Jennifer and I am an avid organic gardener and home cook. So I am combining my two passions to bring you tons of information on healthy living through gardening, food preservation, and nutritious recipes that help you use what you grow.
First and foremost I am a child of God and follower of Jesus. I think my passion for growing my own food is God-given and I am hoping to use this site as a platform to inspire others to grow as much of their own food as they can. Even an apartment dweller can grow sprouts and leafy greens!
My husband and I have been married for almost 25 years and we have 2 kids in college and 2 still at home. I love to cook for my family and make nearly everything from scratch. I am not perfect though and have a weakness for Dove Chocolate, Chick-Fil-A, thin crust pizza, and sweet tea! Just bein’ real with ya 🙂
I have a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics and for a time was a registered dietitian. However I found that I didn’t agree with a lot of the faux foods my profession was being required to promote as being good for you. I firmly believe that the best nourishment for our bodies are foods in the forms God gave us, without all the additives and preservatives. Give me real eggs and whole milk please!
I am strongly anti-GMO and believe that people shouldn’t be trying to play at being God by messing with seeds at the genetic level. Seriously, why on earth do we need to add fish genes to tomatoes? And don’t even get me started on how unethical it is to allow life (such as seeds) to be patented.
